A student is considered tardy if not in their classroom at 8:00 a.m. when the bell rings. Tardy students must report to the school office to obtain a tardy slip before entering their classroom. According to California Department of Education truancy laws, schools are required to enforce a policy for unexcused tardies and absences.

Excessive tardiness affects the responsible behavior grade. Consequences for exceeding the listed limits:

  • 1st Semester (10 absences / 10 tardies) warning notice
  • 2nd Semester (20 absences/ 20 tardies) letter from principal
  • 3rd Trimester (15 absences/21 tardies) principal, parent, teacher conference

The principal is the final recourse in attendance matters and reserves the right to waive any and all regulations for just cause at his/her discretion. All consequences listed above are for unexcused tardies and absences only.
